LADIES FRIENDLIES 2018

CONNAUGHT LADIES V CRINGLEFORD LADIES FRIENDLY

Connaught Played Cringleford on 1ST August but  lost 30 / 31

The soaring temperatures meant that we had to play just 12 ends as many of the ladies were already too hot before we even started.

Cringleford had a late call off so we quickly rang a new girl, my friend who has only just done Geoff,s coaching.

Carolina was the volunteer to play with Cringleford.

Rink 2     Alison Rush, Liz Keogh Carol Trevelyn Lost 10/11  Won 6 ends and dropped 2 on end 12

Rink 3      Pat Barton, Jenny Moon Elaine Oatway Won 13/2 Won 10 ends and dropped 1 on end 12

Rink 4     Pat Benefer, Diana Adcock Julie Warren Lost 7/18 Won 4 ends and dropped 1 on end 12

All teams dropping 1 on last end gave the win to Cringleford.

I think we were all relieved to get indoors for our wonderful afternoon tea, provided by our team.

Much light hearted banter showed us just how much these games mean to our ladies.

I was pleased that we could welcome Julie to play in her first game ever, she learned a great deal from our experienced

Diana Pat and the opposition were pleased to help out. Elaine also in her debut match well done.

Carolina got some light hearted jibs for playing too well against Alisons block.

WELL DONE

OUR NEXT GAME IS ON THE THURSDAY 23RD AUGUST AWAY AGAINST THORPE PARK 2 P.M.

Already quite a few ladies have said they are unavailable so I will put the list up 10 days before.

Please phone me if you want to be included.

Connaught Ladies v - Thetford Ladies

Connaught Played Thetford on 27th June 2018 but lost 39 - 60

On such a hot afternoon, we tried very hard but I think the secret weapon of Thetford was Joyce, who is a good 90 year old, along with an almost grassless green, which foiled us all.(almost)

Rink 1. Joan Knox, Rita Culver and Carolina Li Rocchi won 18 - 16

Connaught were always there even with a 5 scored on end 16 against, we replied with a 5 on end 18. Great work.

Rink 2. Alison Rush, Liz Keogh nd Anne Westwood lost 12 - 25

A 6 against on end 6 put Thetford ahead and they were never in doubt.

Rink 3. Pat Barton, Carole Taylor and Jenni Moon lost 9 - 19

5 - 3 up then the 5 against struck again and no score for Connaught until end 14 and a 2 gave us a 7 - 17 score line.We remained 10 shots behind till the final end (Joyce had struck her magic)

Final score 39 - 60  We retreated inside and enjoyed the buffet and a cup of tea or a cold drink, some of us had both.

Thanks ladies all our hard work gave us a good game despite the final result.

Keep a check on the notice board for the next match which is at home and tick off.

Anyone can play in the friendlies so contact me if you would like to play

WELL DONE LADIES WHAT A GREAT AFTERNOON you did our club proud.

We had a great match in our second against Cringleford on the 23rd May.

At one point at end 16/17 we were all tying at12 /12 , 12/12 and 14/14 so what an afternoon.
But the final results didn't all go to us, but that didn't matter, we all enjoyed the match.

Rink 1 Pat Barton Pat Benefer and Ann Westwood lost 14/16

Rink 2 Joan Knox Rita Culver and Joyce won 14/12

Rink 3 Carole Taylor Carolina Li rocchi Liz Keogh lost 12/17

Overall we lost 40/45 some positive skipping, although Cringleford had some inspired finishes to their game.

Well done everyone and thanks to the late reserves for their contributions.

Next match June 27th..at Thetford get ready to tick off on the notice board.

Connaught Ladies played Norwich C.C. on 9th May but lost  36 - 38

Well done to our ladies friendly team on our first match this season.

Despite not having 9 players ( we had to borrow a lady from Norwich ladies) we put on a good game.

Rink 1 Pat Barton , Carole Taylor and Lesley Parker  took 8 ends to get on the score board then scored 9 on the next 6 ends. After a good come back lost 10 - 18

Rink 2  Ann Bayes , Rita Culver and  Liz Keogh  faired much better scoring on 11 ends but Norwich had a 3 on the 14th end and our girls managed to hold on for a draw  11 - 11

Rink 3 Pat Benefer, Monica Hill and  Jenny Moon took up the lead, scoring on 12 ends and held on to it finishing our winning rink Well done on a 15 - 9 win

Overall, we lost 36 - 38 but it was a good afternoon and valuable experience for all those playing, especially the 2 ladies drafted in from roll-ups the day before..We enjoyed the buffet provided by the Norwich ladies and a warm afternoons bowling. All our ladies can use the friendly matches to try new positions and give help with protocols and game play to our newer ladies.

PLEASE CHECK THE NOTICE BOARD NEXT MATCH 23RD MAY at Cringleford.
