Light at the end of the tunnel.

Following the recent announcement from the prime minster it will hopefully not be to long before we are able to get on the green once again, so the message is get polishing your woods and cleaning your shoes so that you are ready for action when the time comes.

The club committee held a virtual meeting this morning and I can tell you that we will be looking to start bowling somewhere around the middle of April. The traditional green opening drive has been pencilled in for 25th April. As soon as we know definite dates, we will let you know. Some league fixture are likely to start in April and again as soon as we are able, we will keep you informed. Bowls England are having a meeting shortly and will be sending out guidance for clubs.

When bowling does start there will without doubt be changes to how we normally operate, as are aware it will be late June at the earliest before things are likely to be back too normal.

As we have already said we hope to keep one short mat down as much as possible during the summer, time slots to use the mat will need to be booked with Bob Oatway.

Coaching sessions mainly but not solely for beginners will begin on Saturday 8th May, so if you know of anyone who would like to have go at bowls please ask them to contact me, one of the requirements from Coach Bowls is that coaches are DBS checked so young people will also be welcomed.

Attached are the up-to-date competition entries, please check carefully to see that you are entered correctly.

As always stay safe and I look forward to seeing you on the green in April.

Mick Utting.
