NORFOLK V's REST OF WORLD
NORFOLK V NEWCOMERS REPORT
This match was arranged for more a social event than a full-blooded encounter, in doing this it brought up an interesting statistic. This being that how many actual home-grown Norfolk people we have (Not many).
So, it was agreed that we would temporally stamp newcomer’s passport earlier than normal, mainly because we needed to borrow some players.
Captain Jim Squire for the Newcomers was very confident as West Ham had won the night before at football, and that his selected team could do the same
Captain Sylvia Parsons, in fact was born in Tooting although having lived in Norfolk for most of her sweet life, had also an array of mixed cultures at her disposal.
The match Format was
Five Triples either side
Playing six ends twice
Totalling ten games, two points for a win, one for draw.
The match was started in good spirit, mixed with a lot of gamesmanship and bantering from the respective supporters.
After four game the score was even, with both captains looking pensive
From then on, the wheel fell off for the Newcomers. Although the games were close, they faltered, and to be fair if the Norfolk team had not borrowed some players the outcome could have been a lot different.
Both teams had provided a lovely buffet which was kindly laid out by Sandra.
It is these little gems of an evening which makes the reputation of our club what it is.
The whole evening was played in good spirit and atmosphere which both captains endorsed in the respective replies at the end.
With good use of the bar, manned by Bob and staff, made the evening financially and otherwise an excellent evening.
