2017-2018 Season
The prospects, for both external and internal bowling, again this season look good. Connaught remains a club focusing on outdoor bowls during the summer but taking the opportunity to play short mat enthusiastically during the winter. The financial contribution to the club made by the short mat section is immense and of course the club's vital social atmosphere is maintained.

Sylvia Parsons takes over the A team and will push for better than the third place achieved last year.

Mike Minshull takes over the B team and will be just as enthusiastic to improve their placing in the league.

Alison Rush continues as Captain in a very competitive league.

As is usual Bob Oatway, once more the enthusiastic captain, will have the smallest of the club's squads to tackle probably the strongest league. Quite a few more are prepared to play occasionally as reserve in emergency, but the extensive travelling requirements in winter from South Norfolk does deter more regular commitment. There again is a steady core of players and as usual the team will be very competitive at home. Away mats in this league prove hard to master.

Connaught again has a very full programme, headlined by two well-supported leagues. The Thursday/Friday evening league and the Tuesday afternoon league.

Club competitions comprising Singles, Pairs and Triples take place on a knockout basis throughout the season, culminating in the finals in early April, after which a week of bowling for the Thurgood trophy takes place

On the purely social side the club's roll-up sessions will continue on Monday and Wednesday afternoons and we are indebted to the volunteer organisers who open and close the club, get the participants into playing units and provide the tea and biscuits

The Annual Ladies v Gents and Town v Country will take place on 30th September 2017 and 7th October 2017 respectively, both on Saturday nights starting at 6pm.
